It finally broke!

So far this year we've had 42 days over 100 degrees. Can you believe it? That's not only hot, but hot for a long time! Well, the heat finally broke. Yesterday, we didn't even reach 90 degrees. What great news! Today, it is in the low 90s and we have a cool breeze. I feel like I've been cooped up all winter long. I am stir crazy. All I want to do is be in the sun! I can picture myself sitting at Starbucks with a large ice tea basking in the sun. It is times like these when work just gets in the way of life!

Summer Fun

The joys of summer...heat, sun, and wasps. Friday night I'm doing a little cleaning while I watch an old Jimmy Stewart movie. Around 8 I've gathered a good bag of trash and decide to take it out. I grab my keys and the bag of trash. I walk out my door and turn to lock it (as a female you can never be too careful). Perched in front of me is a giant red wasp.

Now wasps aren't my friend. A while back I was stung by one. That was not a good evening. By the end of the next day I could not move my arm. The infection was so bad you could cook eggs on my arm. So a trip to the emergency room was made...it was the weekend and I was out in East Texas (there weren't any Care Nows where I was). I don't like wasps.

Back to my story, I decide not to lock my door and walked away. I figured that no will even try to get into my apartment with a wasp guarding the door.

To my luck one of my neighbors was out in the hall. After I threw the trash down the garbage drop, I walked over to her door. She had wasp spray!

And it worked like a charm. As I stood some 10 feet from my door, the spray took the wasp down and killed it on contact! Victory! Victory! Victory at last! (As a side note, any one know what that opera is from?)

Quote of the Day...

"Young or old, rich or poor, country girl or city slicker---it doesn't matter: At some point, every one of us gets out of bed, grabs a hot shower, downs a cup of coffee, goes to the closet, and decides that we haven't got a thing to wear." --Oprah Winfrey

Ain't that the truth!

Group therapy

Every Monday morning the radio talk show I listen to does a segment called "group therapy." In "group therapy" a person calls the radio station and asks a question. The listeners call with their answer/advice. This morning a guy calls and asks if it is okay to ask a girl out on a date via email. Well, I just had to try and put in my two cents. I actually got through the phone lines and they took my call! "I'm getting married in five weeks to a man who asked me out via email. I say go for it!" How freakin' cool! Okay, it doesn't take much to impress me. :)
