Cowboys game

Saturday night, we drove to Chili's to watch the Cowboy's game. Since I am no longer in Cowboy country, we aren't always able to get the game at the apartment. Chili's is the only place in town with the NFL network.

When we arrived, my team had already scored 14 points (go Cowboys!!!). Plus, there was a good crowd out to watch the game. Half of the people in the bar hated the Cowboys and the other half loved the team...there was no middle ground...it made for a lively viewing. And what a game! It was just as lively as the Thanksgiving game. And with 2:18 minutes remaing, Barber scored a touchdown and the game ended in victory for the Cowboys!

The next game for the Dallas will be on Christmas day against Philadelphia. I can't wait!

The ISS and Shuttle Sighting

Saturday night, Buzz and I drove up to a friend's house to watch the shuttle pass in the evening sky. We live in the basin, but we are minutes away from the mountains. Our friends live about 1500 feet above us on the side of the mountain, a perfect place to see our little town or view the evening sky.

We first spotted the ISS passing above us. A few minutes later, between two mountain ranges the space shuttle rose and quickly flew across the sky. You could see the shuttle for two minutes. I know it's hard to believe, but the only thing you could make out was a bright light moving quickly across the sky.

Victory!

This afternoon Buzz and I walked around the apartment complex and found our way to the club house. The club house has a couple of pool tables and dart boards. We decided to play darts for a bit, specifically, the game 901. We get to the end of the game...Buzz has 1 point to score to win the game and I have 27 points left. After the second try, I got a 10 and 17! After Buzz taught me how to play, I beat him! It was a victory that I will cherish! Certainly after Buzz beat me badly at pool last night.

Pagan

I am finally posting a few pictures of our cat, Pagan. She has done very well with all the recent changes. Pagan and I moved from my little apartment to Buzz's and my house. A week later Pagan and I packed up again for a long car trip across state borders. Pagan did really well in the car.

When we first walked into our new home, she hid in the laundry room. Once she made it out of the laundry room, she hid under the bed for several days. Now she is fully acquainted to the new apartment. She makes every effort to take all of your attention and get lots of lovin.'

Quote of the day...

"A lot of people will try to talk you out of pursuing your dream. The world has too many people who are happy to discuss why something might not work, and too few who will cheer you on and say, 'I'm there for you.' The more time you spend navel-gazing, the longer you give those negative gravitational forces to keep you in their tether....If there is something out there that you want to do...don't focus on the obstacles. Don't ask permission. Just dive in."

Downtown at Christmas

The first Friday night of December our little downtown hosted Christmas festivities. Downtown (about half a block) was all lit up for Christmas. Several stores stayed open late and a few venders lined the street. There was a small band playing Christmas songs on Jamacain drums; Santa was there to say "Merry Christmas"; kids could get their face painted; and there was a horse drawn trolly that circled the block. We stopped for food (Buzz had a foot long corn dog and I enjoyed a carmel apple), listened to the Christmas music and walked into a few of the stores. Besides the fact that it was COLD, it was a lot of fun!

Our Christmas Tree

We have our first Christmas tree up and decorated! We placed it right between two windows so that any one who passes by will see our tree.

My New Home

One week after I moved out of my small apartment and into both Buzz's and my house, I moved to an apartment in NM. Buzz has been on assignment in NM for about 2 1/2 years.

Saturday after Thanksgiving we packed up the SUV and headed home to NM. When we walked in the door, I found myself looking at tons of balloons. Buzz had pink and white balloons taped to the banster. As I walked upstairs and turned the corner, I saw more balloons in the kitchen that spelled "Welcome Home." Buzz also had vases of white daisies, my favorite flower, all over the apartment. He had done all of that before coming home for Thanksgiving. He did a great job of welcoming me home.
